Vessel IQ is a mobile application for recording vessel details, running inspections, and getting AI-assisted answers about the boats you work on. This policy explains what information the app collects, how that information is used, and the choices you have over it.
Vessel IQ does not sell your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Information We Collect
Vessel IQ may collect the following categories of information:
Account information
Basic details used to create and maintain your account, such as your email address and authentication identifiers. This lets you sign in and reach your data across devices.
Vessel and inspection data
The content you enter into the app, including vessel records, specifications, inspection findings, notes, and any photos you attach to them.
AI requests submitted through the app
When you use an AI feature, the text and images you submit are sent to our backend service and on to our AI provider so a response can be generated. These requests are processed to produce your result and to diagnose problems with the feature.
Crash reports and analytics
Diagnostic information about how the app performs, such as crash logs, error messages, device model, operating system version, and aggregate usage of app features. This information helps us find and fix bugs.
Subscription and purchase information
Vessel IQ subscriptions are sold and processed through the Apple App Store. Apple handles your payment, and we receive only the subscription status needed to unlock paid features. We never receive or store your payment card details.
How We Use Information
Information collected by Vessel IQ is used only to provide and improve the app. Specifically, we use it to:
- Create your account, sign you in, and keep your data available to you;
- Store and display the vessels, inspections, and photos you enter;
- Generate responses to the AI requests you submit;
- Determine whether your subscription is active and unlock the corresponding features;
- Diagnose crashes, fix defects, and understand which features are used so we can improve them;
- Protect against abuse, fraud, and misuse of the service;
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not use your vessel and inspection data to train AI models.
Data Security
Data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS. We limit access to stored data to what is necessary to operate and support the app, and we take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your account and its associated data at any time from within the app, or by emailing us at josephnoahbackup@gmail.com. Once a deletion request is processed, your account information and the vessel and inspection data associated with it are removed from our active systems. Residual copies may persist in routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
Third-Party Services
Vessel IQ relies on a small number of third-party providers to operate. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function:
- Apple App Store — processes subscriptions and in-app purchases, and reports subscription status back to the app.
- AI provider — receives the content of your AI requests in order to generate a response.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — store your account, vessel, and inspection data and run the backend service.
- Crash reporting and analytics providers — receive diagnostic and usage information about the app.
These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and their agreements with us. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own purposes.
Children's Privacy
Vessel IQ is a professional tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at josephnoahbackup@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as Vessel IQ evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page, and we will notify you in the app or by email if the changes are significant. Continuing to use Vessel IQ after an update means you accept the revised policy.
